After seeing Sunshine Stars' fortunes rise in recent times, all thanks to the new coach, Kennedy Boboye's magic touch, the Akure Gunners will once again rely on their coach's expertise to work wonders against continental contenders Rivers United FC for the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 27.

The Akure Gunners will welcome the Pride of Rivers to the Akure Township Stadium for a battle of wits.

Boboye has turned things around for the Owena Boys, leading them from the NPFL danger zone to winning three matches and securing two draws, resulting in a five-match unbeaten streak.

In anticipation of the match against Rivers United FC, Sunshine Stars' defensive midfield marshal, Osimaga Duke, has expressed optimism that his side will secure a continental ticket at the end of the 2023/2024 NPFL season.

Duke, who has been a key figure for the Owena Whales, has featured in all the games for his team since the start of the season.

He noted that Kennedy Boboye's philosophy will earn them a place in the continent, given their five-match unbeaten run.

He said: "We are trying to adapt to his philosophy, which has led us to play five games unbeaten. With his style of play, we can finish 3rd or 4th. We are still aiming for continental qualification."
