2026/2027 NPFL Matchday 6: Sporting Lagos Rally to Deny Barau FC Victory

Sporting Lagos fought back from a first-half deficit to hold Barau FC to a 1-1 draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 6 encounter in Lagos on Saturday.

Barau FC took the lead in the 35th minute when Joseph Atule calmly converted a penalty to put the visitors ahead.

Sporting Lagos returned from the break with renewed purpose and increased their attacking pressure in search of an equaliser.

Their persistence paid off in the 61st minute when Sodiq Ayoade found the breakthrough to restore parity and bring the hosts back into the contest.

With the scores level, both sides pushed forward in the closing stages, creating opportunities as they searched for the winning goal.

However, neither Barau FC nor Sporting Lagos could find the decisive finish, with the encounter ending 1-1.

The draw earned Barau FC a valuable point away from home, while Sporting Lagos secured a share of the points after recovering from their first-half setback.
