Sporting Lagos FC produced a ruthless second-half performance to overwhelm Doma United 4-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium, extending their perfect start to the 2025/2026 NNL Super Four campaign.
The victory sends the Noisy Lagosians to the top of the standings with six points from two matches, strengthening their grip on the race for promotion glory.
Doma United began brightly and looked dangerous in the early exchanges. In the 5th minute, Mathew skipped past his marker down the left flank before firing a low effort that Sporting’s defence managed to block behind for a corner.
Sporting Lagos gradually settled into the contest and began to dominate possession with fluid attacking play and improved control in midfield. Their first real opening came in the 15th minute when Akanni found himself through on goal, but the forward failed to convert.
The pressure eventually told in the 27th minute as Seun Akanji reacted quickest inside the penalty area to poke home from close range and hand Sporting a deserved lead.
The Lagos side continued to dictate proceedings for the remainder of the first half, while Doma United struggled to find rhythm in attack.
Sporting wasted no time after the restart in tightening their grip on the encounter. Just two minutes into the second half, Shola doubled the advantage after the Doma goalkeeper spilled Victor’s powerful long-range effort into his path for a simple finish.
The Savannah Tigers responded with a series of substitutions in an attempt to regain balance and spark a comeback, but Sporting Lagos remained firmly in control and continued to create the better chances.
Captain Uloko then took centre stage late in the game. In the 80th minute, he reacted quickest during a crowded goalmouth situation to fire in Sporting’s third goal.
The skipper completed the rout eight minutes later with a brilliant finish, sealing his brace and capping an outstanding team display from the Noisy Lagosians.
Sporting Lagos now sit in pole position in the NNL Super Four after following up their opening 1-0 win against Ranchers Bees with another commanding performance, while Doma United will need a strong response in their remaining fixtures to keep their hopes alive.
This dominant display cements Sporting Lagos as the team to beat in the ongoing tournament. With their clinical finishing and defensive solidity, the Noisy Lagosians have positioned themselves perfectly to secure the ultimate prize in the NNL Super Four.
