Sporting Lagos emerged champions of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Four despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to city rivals Inter Lagos on the final day of competition at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo.
Heading into the decisive Matchday 3 fixture, Sporting Lagos required only a draw to seal the title, but Inter Lagos produced a spirited performance to claim victory in the much-anticipated Lagos derby and end the campaign on a high note.
However, Sporting Lagos’ dominant displays in their opening two matches proved decisive.
The “Noisy Lagosians” began their Super Four journey with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ranchers Bees before producing the tournament’s standout performance with a commanding 4-0 triumph against Doma United.
Both Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos finished the competition level on six points, but Sporting Lagos’ superior goal difference ensured they lifted the Super Four trophy alongside the ₦10 million prize money.
Inter Lagos also impressed throughout the tournament after recovering from an opening-day defeat to Doma United. They bounced back with consecutive 1-0 victories over Ranchers Bees and Sporting Lagos to finish second.
Ranchers Bees secured third place, while Doma United ended fourth, as all four clubs confirmed their promotion to the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
For Sporting Lagos, the title marks another major milestone in the club’s rapid development and underlines their ambition ahead of their return to top-flight football.
Despite missing out on the trophy, Inter Lagos showed resilience and defensive solidity throughout the competition, while Ranchers Bees and Doma United also gained valuable experience ahead of life in the NPFL.
