Sporting Lagos and Ranchers Bees set for NNL Super 4 opening clash in Ikenne

The 2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 4 tournament officially kicks off today at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. Sporting Lagos and Ranchers Bees are scheduled to play the opening match as they celebrate their recent promotion to the top flight. This competition features the four clubs that successfully secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following the conclusion of the regular season.

Ranchers Bees return to the Nigerian elite division after a significant period in the lower leagues and will face a modern Sporting Lagos side at 2 pm. The second fixture of the day features a high-stakes encounter between Inter Lagos and Doma United at 4 pm. All four teams have already achieved the primary goal of promotion but are now competing for the title of overall NNL champions.

The organizers have confirmed a significant financial incentive for the participating clubs during this week-long championship. The overall winner of the 2026 NNL season will be awarded a cash prize of 10 million Naira. Furthermore, each of the four qualifying clubs has received a 2 million Naira participation fee to support their logistics during the event.

The tournament schedule follows a round-robin format that will continue through the week until the final matches on April 8. Wednesday’s fixtures will see Ranchers Bees take on Inter Lagos while Sporting Lagos battles Doma United in the late kickoff. Friday is expected to produce the most intensity with a northern derby and a highly anticipated Lagos local derby between Sporting and Inter.

Toptier Sports Management CEO Chichi Nwoko assured stakeholders that all arrangements are in place for a high-standard competition. She emphasized that the goal is to deliver matchday operations that reflect the increasing professional standards of Nigerian football. Several high-profile dignitaries are expected to attend the opening ceremonies to witness the next generation of NPFL talent.

Doma United and Sporting Lagos enter the tournament as favorites given their previous experience in the top division. However, the resilient form of Ranchers Bees and the tactical discipline of Inter Lagos make the Super 4 an unpredictable contest. This tournament serves as a final preparation for these teams before they begin their 2026/2027 NPFL campaigns later this year.
