Simone Inzaghi Appointed Al Hilal Head Coach Following Inter Milan Exit

Posted : 06 June 2025

Simone Inzaghi has been officially named as the new head coach of Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, marking a swift return to management after his recent departure from Inter Milan. The announcement was made by the Riyadh-based club on Thursday, just days after Inter suffered a devastating 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Al Hilal welcomed the 49-year-old Italian with a social media video in which he addressed fans, symbolically embracing his new role by sipping Arabian coffee and pinning the club’s badge to his jacket.

The move comes at a pivotal time for Al Hilal, one of the Saudi Pro League’s flagship teams, as they prepare to participate in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. Inzaghi brings a wealth of experience, having led Inter to a Serie A title and two Coppa Italia victories since taking over in 2021.

Despite reaching two Champions League finals during his tenure, he was unable to secure European glory, with the latest loss marking a bitter end to Inter’s season.

Earlier speculation linked Inzaghi with a lucrative offer from Al Hilal, rumored to be worth €50 million over two years—rumors he initially dismissed. However, with Inter Milan’s disappointing end to the season and his subsequent exit confirmed on Tuesday, the Italian tactician has opted to embark on a new chapter in Saudi Arabia.

His arrival signals Al Hilal’s continued ambition to dominate both domestic and international competitions under high-profile leadership.
