Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan continue to search for their first win of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign after settling for a 1-1 draw against Ikorodu City in a lively South West derby at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
The Oluyole Warriors struck first when Sodiq Ibrahim unleashed a thunderous effort from distance in the ninth minute, giving the home crowd an early reason to cheer. Ikorodu City responded with resilience, coming close through Kelechi Onwe in the 34th minute, only for his header to be cleared off the line after beating goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal.
Their persistence eventually paid off just before half-time when Shola Adelani levelled the score, ensuring the visitors went into the break on equal footing. Both teams introduced tactical substitutions in the second half, but neither could find a winning goal as the match ended in stalemate.
Speaking after the game, Shooting Stars Head Coach Nurudeen Aweroro admitted disappointment at another draw but highlighted visible improvements from their previous outings. He stressed the need for further adjustments to secure better results moving forward.
Ikorodu City boss Bright Ozadegbe commended his players for their quick recovery after conceding early and expressed confidence that the squad will grow stronger as the season progresses.
With the result, Shooting Stars sit 15th on the NPFL table with just two points from three matches, while Ikorodu City also remain without a victory.
