Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday maintained their winning momentum with a 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors FC, moving up to second place on the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table.
The Oluyole Warriors dominated proceedings in the Matchday 9 fixture played at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Ayobami Junior opened the scoring for the hosts in the 20th minute, finishing off an earlier effort by Adegoke Abiodun with a powerful strike.
In the 45th minute, 3SC coach Nurudeen Aweroro made a tactical change, bringing on Qamar Adegoke for Sodiq Ibrahim to strengthen the attack. Abia Warriors came close to an equaliser in the 57th minute, but their attempt narrowly went over the crossbar.
Aweroro made a double substitution in the 60th minute, introducing Ayodele Ismail and Adams Mustapha for Ayobami Junior and Awosanmi Promise to maintain control of the game.
The victory lifted the Oluyole Warriors to second place on the NPFL standings with 15 points from nine matches, behind leaders Nasarawa United, who top the table with 19 points from the same number of games.
