Sevilla Prepared to Sell Nigerian Striker Akor Adams to Ease Severe Financial Crisis

Spanish club Sevilla could be forced to part ways with Nigerian forward Akor Adams before the end of June. Reports from Spanish media outlet AS indicate that the La Liga side needs to ease mounting financial problems. The entire first-team squad has effectively been placed on the transfer list to generate immediate revenue. This radical clearing house includes fellow Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke as the club tries to fulfill its economic obligations.

The Andalusian club is facing a deep financial crisis after a catastrophic financial year. Sevilla's personnel costs shockingly consumed 99% of the club's total revenue last season; this is almost double the healthy league benchmark of 60 to 70 percent. This massive structural overspend has anchored the club to the absolute bottom of La Liga's Squad Cost Limit rankings.

The financial instability grew significantly worse following the sudden collapse of a major club takeover bid last week. Spanish icon Sergio Ramos had proposed a €440 million buyout of the club. However, the former Real Madrid defender returned to late negotiations with a drastically reduced financial offer. Sevilla's primary shareholders promptly walked away from the discussion table, leaving the directors scrambling for alternative funds.

Despite the heavy institutional turbulence, Adams has enjoyed a highly productive individual campaign in Spain. The 26-year-old striker scored critical goals against Espanyol and Villarreal to help his club narrowly escape a nerve-wracking relegation threat. He finished the 2025/2026 domestic season as Sevilla's top scorer with eight league goals. His overall market value has now risen significantly following these standout performances in Europe.

The powerful striker also elevated his international profile during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. He featured heavily for the Super Eagles as Nigeria secured a bronze medal at the continental tournament. With Sevilla desperate to balance their books before the June 30 accounting deadline, several top European clubs are monitoring his situation. The Spanish side is now listening to lucrative offers for their prized African asset.
