Saudi Club Al-Tai Unveil Super Eagles Striker Simy Nwankwo With Eye-Catching Video

Saudi First Division side Al-Tai have officially announced the signing of former Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo ahead of the new season.

The club unveiled the Nigerian forward with an eye-catching video on its official channel as they welcomed the experienced striker to the team. Al-Tai accompanied the announcement with the caption, “one by one and the rest on the field.”

Nwankwo arrives at Al-Tai after an impressive 2025/26 campaign with Al-Orobah. The 34-year-old finished the Saudi First Division season with 27 goals and four assists in 27 league appearances, giving him 31 goal contributions.

His goalscoring record placed him among the leading scorers in the division. He was also one of the most productive players in the competition throughout the campaign.

Nwankwo produced several memorable performances during his time at Al-Orobah. He scored twice and provided an assist in the club’s final league match against Al Anwar, helping them secure a 3-1 victory.

The Nigerian striker previously played in Portugal and Italy before moving to Saudi Arabia. His European career included spells with Portimonense, Gil Vicente, Crotone, Parma, Benevento and Salernitana.

Nwankwo also represented Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He earned four senior international caps and remains one of the country's experienced attacking options from that generation.

His move to Al-Tai gives the Saudi club a proven goalscorer ahead of the new campaign. The forward will be expected to reproduce the form that made him one of the division’s leading attacking players last season.

Nwankwo's arrival also gives Al-Tai an attacking player familiar with the Saudi First Division. His previous campaign showed his ability to consistently find the net and provide a major threat in the final third.

The striker will now begin a new chapter with Al-Tai as the club looks to benefit from his experience and goalscoring record. His challenge will be to maintain the prolific form that made him a standout performer for Al-Orobah last season.
