Bristol City interim manager Roy Hodgson celebrated back-to-back wins as his team held on to beat Sheffield United 1‑0 at Ashton Gate. The decisive goal came from Mark Sykes, securing the Robins’ first home victory since January 24 and moving the club up to 11th in the Championship standings, seven points shy of the top six. Sheffield United remain in 17th place.
The opening half saw both sides struggle for clear chances, with each team recording only one shot on target. City’s breakthrough came from a polished one-touch move, where Max Bird’s clever pass split the Blades’ defense.
Keeper Adam Davies managed to reach the ball first, but his clearance fell to Sykes, who curled a right-footed shot past three defenders into the bottom corner.
Sheffield United pushed hard after the break, with manager Chris Wilder introducing Gustavo Hamer and Andre Brooks at halftime to bolster their attack.
Despite creating multiple opportunities, including a close-range chance for Patrick Bamford, they were repeatedly denied by City’s on-loan Radek Vitek, whose outstanding saves preserved the clean sheet. The Blades have now gone six games without a win, while Bristol City look to extend Hodgson’s perfect record when they travel to QPR for their next fixture.
