Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to miss Al-Nassr’s upcoming match against Al-Riyadh, scheduled for today, amid growing frustrations with the club’s management. According to Portuguese media, the 39-year-old star is unhappy with the way the Saudi Investment Fund oversees the team, particularly compared to other clubs under the same ownership.
Ronaldo’s disappointment is fueled by what he perceives as insufficient investment and strategic planning at Al-Nassr. During the January transfer window, the club signed only one player, 21-year-old Iraqi midfielder Haider Abdulkarim, a move that reportedly left Ronaldo frustrated. The Portuguese forward has also expressed concerns about the broader management structure, including the reduced powers of the club’s two Portuguese executives, sporting director Simão Coutinho and CEO Jose Semedo, whose authority was reportedly curtailed by the board earlier this month.
The situation has been further complicated by rumors surrounding potential moves involving Karim Benzema, whose possible transfer to Al-Hilal could intensify the perceived competitive imbalance among top Saudi clubs, adding to Ronaldo’s sense of discontent.
Despite these tensions, Ronaldo continues to perform on the field. Just three days ago, he netted his 961st career goal in Al-Nassr’s 3–0 victory over Al Kholoud. Al-Nassr currently sits second in the Saudi League with 43 points, just three behind leaders Al-Hilal, keeping the team firmly in the title race. However, Ronaldo’s reported boycott highlights growing off-field challenges and managerial unrest at the club.
