Rivers United Set for CAF Champions League Draw as Continental Journey Begins

Rivers United will begin their quest for continental glory on Thursday when the club learns its opponent for the preliminary round of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

The draw ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, where clubs from across the continent will discover their paths to the group stage of Africa's premier club competition.

Representing Nigeria in the tournament, Rivers United will be hoping for a favourable draw as they seek to improve on their previous outings and make a deeper run in the competition.

The CAF Champions League preliminary-round draw is slated for 3:00 p.m. Cairo time (12:00 GMT), following the CAF Confederation Cup draw, which will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Cairo time (11:00 GMT).

Both events will be streamed live on CAF TV, allowing supporters across Nigeria and beyond to follow the proceedings in real time.
