The 2026 Rivers State President’s Federation Cup (PFC) is set to burst into action, with attention already shifting to which teams will emerge to challenge heavyweights Rivers United and Rivers Angels, both of whom have secured direct passage into the latter stages.
In the men’s draw, defending champions Rivers United will begin their title defence from the quarterfinals, where they are scheduled to face either Starr FC or Reign FC on April 16.
Their delayed entry places added spotlight on the opening fixtures, as aspiring contenders battle for a chance to meet the champions.
The race to the quarterfinals begins with Tobinsnet FC squaring off against DeCardinal FC on April 10. Two more fixtures follow on April 13, with Willbros FC facing Prime7 FC, while De-Future Stars FC take on Ereme Jackson FC in what promises to be a decisive day of knockout football.
With places in the semifinals up for grabs, the intensity is expected to rise sharply on April 20 and 21, before the competition reaches its climax in the men’s final on April 25.
On the women’s side, perennial favourites Rivers Angels will also wait in the final, giving other teams a direct incentive to fight through a round-robin qualifying series. PH Future Queens, Osklean, and Sporting Angels will battle among themselves for the sole ticket to the final showdown.
The mini-league begins on April 10 with PH Future Queens taking on Osklean, followed by Osklean against Sporting Angels on April 13. The final group fixture on April 20 will see Sporting Angels face PH Future Queens, a match that could ultimately determine who earns the right to challenge Rivers Angels.
The women’s final is slated for April 25, setting up a potential clash between the established champions and an emerging contender.
All matches in this year’s competition will be staged at Sharks Stadium and Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, as the countdown begins to what promises to be a fiercely contested state football spectacle.
