2025/2026 NPFL Match Day 12: Rivers United Pushes Kun Khalifat Closer to Relegation

Rivers United FC dealt a blow to newly promoted Kun Khalifat of Owerri by securing a 1–0 away victory, pushing the visitors closer to relegation danger.

The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Maclyn Biokpo converted an assist from Emmanuel Nnaji, giving the Pride of Rivers the lead and ultimately the win.

The victory lifted Finidi George’s side into the NPFL top four with 20 points, just three behind leaders Nasarawa United and with a game in hand.

Rivers United coach Finidi George praised his team’s progress and emphasized their ambitions for the season. “The league is ongoing and the team is improving. We will see how far we can go because we want to contest for every trophy this season,” he said.
