Richarlison’s Tottenham future has become increasingly uncertain after the Brazilian forward was excluded from the club’s 25-man Premier League squad. The decision comes amid his continued desire to leave Spurs and interest from clubs in other transfer markets.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi had already indicated that Richarlison wanted to move on after the club’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle. The Italian coach said the striker had repeatedly expressed his wish to leave, raising the possibility of an exit before the transfer window closes in countries where the market remains open.
The 29-year-old also made his frustration public on social media earlier in the week. In a strongly worded Instagram post, Richarlison insisted that he wanted to have control over decisions concerning his future, while reflecting on difficult experiences and claiming that he had previously accepted situations for the benefit of Tottenham.
A return to Everton, where Richarlison spent four seasons before joining Spurs in 2022, had been discussed. However, negotiations failed to produce an agreement before England’s transfer deadline, leaving the forward still contracted to Tottenham.
Attention has now turned to Turkey, where Trabzonspor are reportedly pursuing the Brazilian. The Turkish club have already seen bids rejected by Tottenham but are expected to consider another offer before their transfer window closes. Richarlison has reportedly agreed personal terms with the club, although a deal still depends on Spurs accepting a transfer fee.
Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton in 2022 and has struggled to consistently establish himself as a key attacking player. Injuries and competition for places have limited his impact, although he remained an important contributor last season, finishing as Spurs’ leading Premier League scorer with 11 goals as the club narrowly avoided relegation.
His omission from the Premier League squad now appears to strengthen the likelihood of an imminent departure, with Turkey and potentially Saudi Arabia among the remaining destinations while their transfer windows stay open.
