RFO Academy will welcome Best Talent Football Club to the University of Ibadan Main Bowl on Friday for a high-profile friendly encounter as both sides step up preparations for the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO1) season.
The match, scheduled for 8 a.m. at the University of Ibadan Sports Complex, is expected to provide both teams with a valuable opportunity to fine-tune tactics and assess player readiness ahead of the new campaign.
Chairman of Best Talent FC, Adeyinka Adeyemo, explained that the club’s recent run of friendly matches across South-Western Nigeria is part of a deliberate effort to toughen the players for the challenges of the upcoming season.
“We have honoured several friendly matches in Lagos and Ogun States, and now it is time to honour the invitation in Oyo State and experience the atmosphere in Ibadan,” Adeyemo said.
He added that exposing the players to different playing environments would help them develop the resilience required for competitive away fixtures.
“Our aim is to instill a winning mentality in the players regardless of where the match is played,” the former footballer noted.
Best Talent FC head coach Yusuf Farouk also expressed confidence in his squad ahead of the clash, stating that the team would approach the match with discipline and a clear tactical plan.
According to him, the club’s recent tour of friendly games across Lagos and Ogun States has strengthened the team and improved the players’ confidence.
“Everyone understands what it takes to travel from Mowe to Ibadan for this match. It is financially demanding, and we appreciate the support from the chairman and management for making it possible,” Farouk said.
“The matches we played in Lagos and Ogun have helped toughen the team. We will not be under pressure against any opponent in Ibadan.”
The former Coca-Cola coach added that the team would remain focused on executing its strategy while continuing preparations for the forthcoming 2026 NLO1 season.
“We will stick to our game plan and aim to deliver a good performance. By God’s grace, we will not disappoint our supporters,” he assured.
