Remo Stars assistant coach, Sulaiman Folarin, has expressed optimism that reliable midfielder Jabbar Malik will be available for the team’s 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 14 encounter against Barau FC.
Malik was stretchered off during Remo Starsa’ rescheduled Matchday Five clash with Kano Pillars on Wednesday. Despite the scare, the defending champions secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory to earn maximum points.
Folarin reassured fans that Malik’s injury is not serious and expects him to be ready for the upcoming match. “Malik will be better for the next game against Barau FC because it is not a serious injury at all,” Folarin told the club’s media team. “He has played for a long time, so I believe it is tiredness or a minor muscle strain. He should be okay before our next game on Sunday.”
Remo Stars will face Barau FC at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta. The defending champions are aiming to build on their recent victory over Kano Pillars, which marked their return to winning ways following a home defeat to Enugu Rangers.
The breakthrough against Kano Pillars came in the 34th minute when Victor Mbaoma rose highest to head home the decisive goal. The win lifted Remo Stars out of the relegation zone, moving them to 15th place on the NPFL table with 16 points from 12 matches.
