Remo Stars have appointed Olumide Ajibolade as the club's new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season. The Ikenne-based side has rewarded one of its longest-serving coaches by promoting him from the club's renowned youth system to the senior team. The appointment continues the club's philosophy of developing talent from within, both on and off the pitch.
Ajibolade first joined the Remo Stars Sports Club project in 2019 as head coach of the club's Under-17 side. He was later placed in charge of Beyond Limits Football Academy following its establishment in 2021. Since then, he has established himself as one of Nigeria's leading youth coaches through a series of impressive achievements.
Under his leadership, Beyond Limits dominated The Creative Championship, winning five league titles in six seasons. His side also lifted back-to-back TCC Cup trophies, claimed the TCC Super Cup and secured multiple Ogun State FA Cup titles. Those successes strengthened the academy's reputation as one of the country's finest talent factories.
Ajibolade also proved his ability in league football. He guided Beyond Limits from the Nationwide League One to the Nigeria National League before earning promotion to the NPFL. His team completed a remarkable 2023/24 campaign by winning the Nigeria National League title in Enugu, confirming their rapid rise through the Nigerian football pyramid.
His achievements have extended beyond Nigeria. In 2024, he led Beyond Limits to victory at the prestigious Viareggio Cup in Italy, becoming the first African academy to win the tournament. The academy also lifted consecutive Gothia Cup titles in Sweden in 2025 and 2026, further enhancing its growing international reputation.
Ajibolade has also contributed to Nigeria's youth national teams. He has worked as an assistant coach with the Golden Eaglets setup, adding valuable international experience to his coaching résumé while continuing to oversee the development of young players at Beyond Limits.
The appointment follows the departure of Daniel Ogunmodede, who left Remo Stars to become Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars after a successful spell with the club. Ajibolade now faces the challenge of transferring his success in youth football to the senior level as Remo Stars prepare for a new NPFL campaign. Club officials believe his understanding of the club's culture and his proven record of developing players make him the ideal candidate to lead the Sky Blue Stars into the future.
