NPFL Match Day 3 Preview: Remo Stars Determined to Secure Home Win Against Warri Wolves

The reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars FC of Ikenne, will be looking to redeem themselves in Match Day 3 when they host Warri Wolves at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta. The Sky Blue Stars temporarily relocated their home matches to Abeokuta due to renovations at their Ikenne stadium, making this clash an early opportunity to impress their fans.

 

Remo Stars’ first home outing ended in a shared point with last season’s runners-up, Rivers United, leaving them eager to bounce back. Their opponents, Warri Wolves, have enjoyed a strong start to the season and remain unbeaten since returning to the NPFL, making the upcoming game a challenging test for the defending champions.

 

The Sky Blue Stars arrive on the back of a thrilling 2-1 comeback win over newcomers Kun Khalifat in Aba during Match Day 2. Assistant coach Sulaimon Folarin, popularly known as Coach Lama, will oversee the team in the absence of head coach Daniel Ogunmodede, who is away on national assignment with the Super Eagles. Despite Ogunmodede’s absence, Lama has declared the match a “non-negotiable win.”

 

Coach Lama emphasized the importance of following the head coach’s plans: “Ogunmodede is not here, but his spirit is with us. Everything we are doing is based on his preparation. We are here to represent him and deliver the results he expects. With four points from two matches, we aim to secure the full three points and stabilize our position in the table.”

 

Lama further highlighted the team’s ambitions for the season: “Our goal is to return to the top of the table. A win against Warri Wolves would give us seven points and likely place us second or third. We will continue our momentum on the road and fight to reclaim the top spot. This match is non-negotiable, and we are determined to win by the grace of God.”

 

With this being the first NPFL meeting between Remo Stars and Warri Wolves, the clash offers an early chance for the defending champions to assert their dominance and set the tone for their title defense in the 2025/2026 season.
