2025/2026 NPFL Match Day 2: Remo Stars Claim First Away Victory Against Kun Khalifat

Reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars recorded their first away win of the new season after edging Kun Khalifat FC 2-1 in Matchday 2 at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.

 

Kun Khalifat opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Henry Ezeonye converted from the penalty spot after being fouled by goalkeeper Sahbiru Abiola. The champions responded after halftime, with Ibrahim Abubakar heading home the equalizer in the 68th minute. Ten minutes later, Nicholas Samson completed the comeback, capitalizing on a goalmouth scramble to hand Remo Stars the decisive goal.

 

Assistant coach Sulaiman Kamil praised his side’s resilience and style of play, stressing that the team’s structure and commitment to their game plan remain key to their success. “We are always prepared to face any opponent, and our system gives us confidence to win matches consistently,” he said.

 

Kun Khalifat coach Obinna Ozoho admitted his side struggled for cohesion and promised improvements in the coming fixtures. “The league is a marathon. We will go back, work on our weaknesses, and come back stronger,” he noted.

 

The win lifted Remo Stars to fourth place on the NPFL table with four points from two matches, while Kun Khalifat dropped to 14th with just one point.
