2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 34: Relegation-threatened Heartland FC seeks more reprieve from Kwara United FC's visit

Smarting from a brilliant display in their 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 33 with a comfortable 2-0 victory over their arch-rivals, Rangers International FC, in a tough and well-contested Oriental derby, relegation-threatened Heartland International FC will return to Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, to face another bruised side, Kwara United FC.


There will be a tale of two opposing emotions in the 2024/2025 Match Day 34 between both sides, as Kwara United FC are still nursing the wounds inflicted on them by the visiting Bendel Insurance FC, who beat them at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl of the George Innih Stadium in Ilorin.


While the coach of the team, Tunde Sani, has profusely apologized for the poor showing, he needs to fashion a way out to appease the aggrieved fans who are dissatisfied with the poor showing and the loss against the Benin Arsenals.


The Afonja Warriors have suffered much instability, as they have lost a couple of important matches many thought they would have won, and have gone from a team being tipped for a continental ticket to a team below the top ten on the NPFL log, sitting in 11th position with 43 points from 33 matches.


The home team, Heartland FC, on the opposite side, should be more motivated, having accomplished one of the most difficult tasks of the season by beating the defending champions, Rangers International FC, 2-0 right in front of their home fans, to boost their NPFL survival. This win has seen the team get a reprieve from the danger zone to a safer space in 16th position with 41 points, three points off the team in the relegation zone.


Emmanuel Amuneke, having had a torrid season handling the Naze Millionaires, will surely want to enforce more striking options against the Afonja Warriors, who might also want an upset.
