2025/2026 NNL Season: Relegated Heartland FC Step Up Preseason Activities

The management of Heartland Football Club of Owerri on Tuesday reaffirmed the team’s commitment to a strong campaign in the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL), which is set to resume in October.

 

The Naze Millionaires revealed that the team has intensified preseason activities through a string of competitive friendly matches aimed at building momentum for the new season.

 

Under the guidance of Technical Manager Emmanuel Amuneke, Heartland FC have shown steady progress and cohesion. “Our vision remains clear—to build a formidable squad capable of competing strongly at any level of Nigerian football. While challenges may arise, they only strengthen both players and coaches as the new campaign approaches,” the club said.

 

So far, Heartland have played over ten preparatory matches, losing only once to Enyimba International FC. Recent highlights include a 3-0 victory over He Reigns FC of Port Harcourt, a 2-2 draw with Campos FC, a 2-0 win against Petson FC, and further triumphs over Giant Brillars (2-1) and Redeemed FC of Port Harcourt (3-2). City Boys of Yenagoa fell 3-0, while Ave International FC of Isinweke also lost 3-0 in another test game.

 

The club assured supporters that it will continue to line up top-tier opposition in warm-up matches to ensure only the best players make the final squad. The Heartland FC Media Department expressed confidence that the team is on the right track and will be fully prepared to compete with pride when the NNL season kicks off.
