Real Madrid eyes Haaland, Mbappe as potential 'Galactico' signings, while Brentford resists Toney sale

Real Madrid is reportedly eyeing a 'Galactico' signing and has identified Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe as potential targets. The Spanish giants have reportedly made room in their budget, with a potential budget reaching up to £342 million, including £111 million in the bank and up to £231 million in credit policies.

 

Real Madrid has also cleared space in their wage bill, making room for five or six seasons' worth of a superstar. However, the pursuit of ambitious targets like Haaland or Mbappe goes beyond financial considerations.

 

On another front, Brentford is determined to resist selling star striker Ivan Toney in January, despite strong interest from clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea. Toney, who has been serving an eight-month suspension for 232 breaches of Football Association betting rules, is expected to remain with Brentford until at least next summer. The club, valuing Toney at a significant figure, is confident that he will be committed to helping them achieve a high finish, with aspirations for a place in England's Euros squad.

 

The Mirror reports that Brentford's stance on retaining Toney in January will be a blow to Arsenal and Chelsea, both keen on the English striker. Toney, expressing readiness to leave Brentford to pursue Champions League aspirations and a regular spot in the England squad, has just 18 months left on his current deal.

 

Despite strong interest, Brentford is determined to keep Toney and is confident in his commitment to the club's success. The valuation for Toney, initially set at £60 million when Arsenal showed interest, has steadily risen, possibly reaching closer to £100 million when Brentford eventually considers a transfer.
