Real Madrid and Tottenham Battle for Nigerian Sensation Zadok Yohanna Ahead of Unity Cup

Posted : 13 May 2026

The European transfer market is buzzing with news of Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna. The 18-year-old winger has reportedly become a primary target for Spanish champions Real Madrid. This interest follows a sensational breakthrough season with Swedish side AIK Fotboll. Tottenham Hotspur are also heavily linked with the youngster just one year after he moved to Europe.

Reports indicate that Real Madrid officials have already initiated contact with Yohanna’s representatives. The Spanish giants view the Bauchi-born attacker as a high-potential talent for their future project. Since joining AIK from the Ikon Allah Academy in Kaduna, Yohanna has displayed remarkable growth. He has quickly transitioned from a substitute to a regular starter in the Allsvenskan league.

The winger’s statistics reflect his growing importance to the Swedish club. Yohanna has recorded five goals and two assists in just 11 senior appearances this season. He famously scored a brace against BK Häcken in March to secure a cup quarter-final spot. AIK have recognized his rising value by reportedly doubling their initial asking price for the player.

International recognition is also on the horizon for the talented teenager. Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is expected to hand Yohanna his maiden senior invitation. Nigeria will participate in the Unity Cup in London later this month. This tournament provides a platform for Chelle to test emerging talents while resting senior regulars.

Tijani and Yohanna are among the many European-based stars being monitored for the London trip. The Unity Cup will feature Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, and India from May 26 to 30. A strong performance in London could further accelerate the race for his signature. Current reports suggest AIK may demand a record Scandinavian fee to sanction a summer move.

Yohanna remains under contract with AIK until December 2029. However, the pressure from elite clubs in the Premier League and La Liga makes a summer transfer likely. Fans are eager to see if he can replicate his club form on the international stage. His pace and clinical finishing make him a unique asset for the national team's future.
