Raphael Onyedika will be unavailable for Club Brugge’s upcoming match against KAA Gent in the Jupiler Pro League scheduled for Thursday, May 1 at the Breydelstadion.
The Nigerian international is serving a suspension issued by the Belgian Football Union after reaching the limit for yellow card accumulations, preventing him from taking part in the fixture.
Onyedika received his third caution of the playoff stage during Club Brugge’s goalless encounter with Union Saint-Gilloise on April 27, with the booking coming in the 38th minute.
His earlier yellow cards during the playoffs came in matches against Racing Genk and another clash with Union Saint-Gilloise, leading to the automatic suspension.
Despite this setback, the midfielder is expected to return in time for the highly anticipated Croky Cup final against Anderlecht on Sunday.
With Onyedika sidelined, manager Nicky Hayen is likely to turn to Hugo Vetlesen or Casper Nielsen to fill the gap in midfield for the Gent clash.
Throughout the current season, Onyedika has made 48 appearances for Club Brugge across all competitions, scoring twice and providing two assists, though he has also picked up seven yellow cards and two reds, underlining a challenging disciplinary record.
