Rangers Strengthen Squad for CAF Champions League, NPFL Campaign

Posted : 07 July 2026

Rangers International FC have bolstered their squad with new signings as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 football season, during which the club will compete in both the CAF Champions League and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The club's General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, disclosed that the new recruits had already joined the team but would be officially presented to the public at a later date in line with the club's tradition.

"We have some new players that have joined us. As usual, we have a way of unveiling our new players in line with our rules.

"When the time comes, we will announce them and present our new players to the public," Ezeaku said.

He added that the Flying Antelopes had already commenced training ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking on the club's home ground, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, which is currently undergoing renovation, Ezeaku said a decision on where Rangers would play their home matches would be made after assessing the pace of work at the facility.

"We have to assess the level of work done at the stadium before deciding what next to do.

"I know that work is progressing fast, but we cannot say for now what will happen until the time comes.

"We will see how it goes. Nobody holds the key to the future; we will do our best in any way it comes," he said.

Ezeaku commended Gov. Peter Mbah for the ongoing renovation of the stadium, describing the project as a major boost to the club's ambition of achieving greater success.

He expressed confidence that Rangers would overcome any challenges and make Enugu State proud in both the CAF Champions League and the NPFL.

"We know what is at stake. We will always fight to represent the badge of the club, no matter the situation.

"I can assure our fans that there is no cause for alarm," he said.

Rangers, the reigning NPFL champions, will represent Nigeria in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League alongside Rivers United.

The club will continue its preparations for the new season as it integrates its new signings and monitors progress on the renovation of its home stadium. Rangers remain determined to compete strongly on both the domestic and continental fronts.
