Ahead of their last home game of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season — Match Day 37 clash against Katsina United FC — dethroned league champions Rangers International FC have offered their league-winning coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, a one-year contract extension.
The Flying Antelopes are expected to take on the Changi Boys at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, popularly known as "The Cathedral," where home fans will have their final opportunity to watch the team play in the 2024/2025 season.
Rangers’ technical adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The new deal will keep Ilechukwu at the Coal City club until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
The 46-year-old guided the Flying Antelopes to their eighth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title last season.
However, Rangers lost the title to Remo Stars this season.
The Enugu-based club still have a chance to win silverware this term, as they are in the last four of the President Federation Cup.
Ilechukwu’s side will face Kwara United in the semi-final at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, next Wednesday.
The gaffer has previously managed defunct MFM FC, Heartland FC, and Plateau United FC.
A dead-rubber visit by the Changi Boys means little to the Flying Antelopes, as they are already out of contention for the available continental slots.
Katsina United FC, on the contrary, must aim for a win or at least a draw to be fully safe from relegation.
Head to Head
In the last five meetings, Rangers International FC boast two wins, Katsina United FC have one win, and the remaining two matches ended in draws.
