Enugu Rangers and Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have chosen the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as the venue for their respective home matches in the 2026/27 CAF inter-club competitions.
The decision means both Nigerian clubs will stage their continental fixtures in Abeokuta after previously considering the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne as their preferred home ground.
Rangers, who will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, had earlier reached an understanding with Remo Stars to use the Ikenne stadium for their campaign. However, after further consultations with the club’s technical team headed by Fidelis Ilechukwu, the reigning NPFL champions opted for the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.
The Flying Antelopes secured their ninth NPFL title at the end of the 2025/26 season, defeating Ikorodu City 2-1 in Lagos on the final day to seal their continental ticket.
Rangers will begin their Champions League campaign against Benin Republic’s AS Sobemap in the first preliminary round, with progression through the qualifying stages required to reach the group phase.
For 3SC, the move to Abeokuta also provides a new continental home as the Ibadan-based club prepares for its CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The Oluyole Warriors earned their place in the competition after finishing third in the 2025/26 NPFL season and face a difficult first-round assignment against Tunisian outfit CS Sfaxien.
The choice of Abeokuta gives both Nigerian representatives a common continental base while providing the MKO Abiola Sports Arena with the opportunity to host top-level African club football.
Rangers and 3SC will now turn their attention to preparations for their respective preliminary-round encounters as they seek to make strong starts to their 2026/27 continental campaigns.
