Ranchers Bees survive Wikki Tourists scare, reach Gusau/Ahlan final on penalties

Ranchers Bees showed remarkable character to book their place in the final of the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Tournament after defeating Wikki Tourists FC 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.

The Bees made a flying start to the semi-final, taking the lead barely a minute into the encounter through Okerie Jude, who gave his side an early advantage.

Their task, however, became considerably tougher after Joel Goodluck was sent off, leaving Ranchers Bees with 10 men for more than 30 minutes.

Wikki Tourists capitalised on the numerical advantage as Ruben Simon restored parity, setting up a tense finish with both sides pushing for the decisive goal.

Despite being a man down, Ranchers Bees defended resolutely and held on until the final whistle, forcing the encounter into a penalty shootout.

The Bees maintained their composure from the spot, converting their opportunities to secure a 5-4 victory and earn a place in the tournament final.

The result capped a resilient display from Ranchers Bees, who overcame the early red card, absorbed sustained pressure and ultimately prevailed in a dramatic shootout.
