Ranchers Bees Football Club of Kaduna and Kwara United of Ilorin are set to battle for honours as the 2026 Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Soccer Tournament reaches its climax on Thursday, August 20, at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina State.
The eagerly anticipated final comes after two weeks of exciting and competitive football, with both teams earning their places in the championship decider through impressive performances.
The grand finale is expected to attract a strong gathering of football stakeholders, with Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Umar Dikko Radda, and the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, listed among the special guests expected at the closing ceremony.
Tournament Coordinator, Alhaji Abahuraira Dahiru, said the final would also be attended by senior government officials from Kaduna and Kwara States, as well as chairmen of the 36 State Football Associations and the FCT.
Dahiru described the tournament as a major success, attributing its smooth organisation to the support and cooperation received from the Katsina State Government and residents.
He praised the participating clubs for displaying discipline, professionalism and sportsmanship throughout the competition, saying their conduct had contributed to the tournament's success.
The coordinator also acknowledged the contributions of members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), security agencies, match officials, medical personnel, volunteers and other stakeholders who played key roles in ensuring a hitch-free tournament.
According to him, the Local Organising Committee, chaired by Jigawa State Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Sabo Abdullahi Dutse, has concluded arrangements to welcome football administrators, officials, supporters and other members of the football family to Katsina for the final.
With Ranchers Bees and Kwara United now standing between each other and the coveted trophy, the closing fixture promises an exciting finale to two weeks of quality pre-season football in Katsina.
