Ranchers Bees Hit With N5m Sanction Over Matchday 6 Breaches

Posted : 01 October 2026

Ranchers Bees FC have been fined N5 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) over multiple breaches arising from their Matchday 6 fixture against Rivers United FC.

The club has also been ordered to identify by Thursday, October 1, the player captured on video physically attacking a Rivers United player during the encounter for further disciplinary action.

The sanctions were contained in the NPFL’s summary jurisdiction decisions, signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman, and dated September 29.

Ranchers Bees were cited for breaches of Rules B13.52, C1.1, and C9 of the NPFL Frameworks and Rules.

The club was fined N2 million for failing to provide adequate and effective security at the match, which allowed unauthorized persons to gain access to restricted areas of the stadium, contrary to Rule B13.52.

A further N1 million fine was imposed for failing to restrain some players and bench officials who intimidated, threatened, and harassed match officials on the field of play, an action deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute under Rule C1.1.

The club also incurred another N1 million fine for failing to ensure the proper conduct of its supporters after some attempted to attack match officials, in violation of Rule C9.

An additional N1 million was imposed over the alleged holding of match officials hostage after the match, bringing the total financial sanction to N5 million.

Under Rule C26, Ranchers Bees have 48 hours from the date of the notice to either accept the summary jurisdiction decisions and sanctions or elect in writing to have the matter heard by a Disciplinary Panel.

The imposed fines are to be paid within seven working days after the expiration of the appeal period.
