Ramon’s Last-Gasp Goal Delays Barcelona’s La Liga Title Win

Real Madrid delayed Barcelona’s La Liga title celebrations with a dramatic 95th-minute winner by Jacobo Ramon against Mallorca. Barcelona were moments away from clinching the title without playing, but Ramon’s late goal at the Bernabeu ensured the championship would remain undecided for at least another day. Barcelona still need just two points from their remaining three games to be crowned champions and will have a chance to do so when they face Espanyol.

 

In the match, Mallorca stunned the home crowd when Martin Valjent scored a low-driven effort to give the visitors the lead. Real Madrid created numerous chances but were wasteful in front of goal until Kylian Mbappe equalised with a composed strike. After continuing to press, Real were rewarded when Ramon's close-range volley secured a last-gasp win, capitalising on a defensive lapse by Mallorca.

 

Barcelona hold a four-point lead over Real Madrid with a game in hand, having already defeated their rivals four times this season, including in the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup finals. For Carlo Ancelotti, this season may mark the end of his tenure at Real without a major trophy, as he is set to take over Brazil’s national team after the campaign.

 

Despite his historic success with the club, including multiple Champions League and La Liga titles, Ancelotti's last piece of silverware came in December with a relatively modest Intercontinental Cup win.
