Puma and the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) have revealed the official match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, featuring striking red and green patterns inspired by Moroccan zellij art.
Zellij is a traditional mosaic technique, using hand-cut and hand-glazed tiles to create intricate geometric designs. This centuries-old craft, which originated in the western Islamic world around the 10th century, serves as the cultural inspiration behind the ball’s design.
Built on Puma’s Orbita 6 technology, the ITRI match ball incorporates the colors of the Moroccan national team. Its star-shaped patterns are meant to reflect ambition, light, and the pursuit of excellence across Africa, while petal motifs signify celebration, growth, and the festive spirit of the tournament. Circular symmetry represents the 24 participating African nations coming together for the competition.
The ball will be available for fans at a recommended retail price of €130, combining traditional artistry with modern sports technology to mark the continent’s premier football event.
