PSG Thrash Manchester City as Liverpool and Aston Villa Record Big European Wins

Posted : 15 October 2026

Paris Saint-Germain produced an impressive performance to defeat Manchester City 4-2 in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, while Liverpool and Aston Villa enjoyed convincing victories on a remarkable night of European football. Elsewhere, Real Madrid staged a stunning late comeback to overcome Roma 4-3, adding to the evening's dramatic action.

Manchester City struggled during their first home match since a major ruling concerning alleged breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations brought renewed attention to the club. PSG capitalised on the situation with a dominant first-half display, taking control through goals from Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha to establish a three-goal advantage.

City responded after the interval as Erling Haaland found the net twice, increasing his Champions League tally for the season to four goals. However, Maghnes Akliouche restored PSG's advantage with another goal between Haaland's strikes. City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma later saved a penalty from Ferran Torres, but the English side could not prevent defeat.

PSG manager Luis Enrique praised his team's first-half superiority while acknowledging the danger of facing a side of City's quality. His counterpart, Enzo Maresca, believed City had created enough opportunities after the break to earn a better result. The reigning European champions maintained their perfect start to the league phase, having scored 10 goals across their opening two matches.

Liverpool Celebrate Barcola Hat-Trick in 6-3 Victory Over LASK

Liverpool secured a 6-3 win against Austrian side LASK, with Bradley Barcola delivering a standout performance by scoring his first goals for the club in the form of a hat-trick. The French forward had struggled to make an impact following his big-money move from Paris Saint-Germain, but his display in Austria provided a significant boost to his confidence.

Ronald Araújo opened the scoring before Barcola added three goals to put Liverpool firmly in control. Jeremie Frimpong and Lewis Koumas also found the net as the visitors built a commanding advantage. LASK refused to give up, however, with Robert Ljubicic scoring once and Florian Flecker adding two goals during a brief second-half revival.

Liverpool ultimately held on to claim an entertaining victory, although conceding three goals raised questions about their defensive organisation. Manager Andoni Iraola praised Barcola's achievement, recognising the difficulty of scoring a Champions League hat-trick and the importance of enjoying such a milestone.

Aston Villa Crush Fenerbahce 6-0

Aston Villa delivered a commanding performance at Villa Park, sweeping aside Fenerbahce 6-0 to record an emphatic European victory. Johan Manzambi opened the scoring on his 21st birthday, giving the hosts an early advantage and setting the tone for a dominant display.

Nicolas Jackson extended Villa's lead with two first-half goals, leaving the Turkish visitors with a substantial deficit at the interval. Ross Barkley continued the scoring after the break, converting a penalty before adding another goal to make it five. Tammy Abraham then completed the rout with a late finish.

Villa's clinical attacking performance and defensive discipline ensured there was no route back for Fenerbahce. The six-goal margin also represented a landmark European result for the English club, underlining their growing ambitions on the continental stage.

Elsewhere, Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt earned a 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund, with Fredrik Sjøvold scoring the only goal of the match. The result gave the Norwegian team a notable win against the former European champions.

Real Betis edged Porto 3-2 in an entertaining encounter in Spain. Abde Ezzalzouli put Betis ahead after the break, but Porto responded through Gabri Veiga and Samuel Aghehowa. Juan Hernández restored parity before Isco struck late to secure the victory for the home side.

Feyenoord defeated Como 3-2 in Rotterdam, with Gjivai Zechiël and Anis Hadj Moussa helping the Dutch team turn the game around after Assane Diao had given the visitors the lead. An own goal by goalkeeper Robert Sánchez increased Feyenoord's advantage before Anastasios Douvikas scored to set up a tense finish.

Shakhtar Donetsk marked their first home fixture at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground with a 3-1 win over AEK Athens. After Lovro Majer put the Greek side ahead, Pedrinho converted a penalty to equalise before Vinícius Tobias and Gleiker Mendoza secured the victory for Shakhtar.

In the night's remaining match, Stuttgart recorded a comfortable 3-0 away win against Slovan Bratislava, adding another convincing result to an evening filled with goals and dramatic moments.

The latest round of Champions League fixtures delivered attacking football, unexpected comebacks and emphatic victories. PSG demonstrated their strength against Manchester City, Liverpool celebrated Barcola's breakthrough performance, Aston Villa impressed with a six-goal triumph, and Real Madrid once again showed their ability to fight back when the pressure was greatest.
