PSG Seal Fifth Straight Ligue 1 Title With Hard-Fought Win Over Lens

Paris Saint-Germain clinched their fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title on Wednesday with a disciplined 2-0 win over Lens, a result that highlighted their ability to succeed even without dominating possession or attacking play.

Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Ibrahim Mbaye secured the victory that ensured PSG were mathematically out of reach in the title race, confirming another domestic triumph for the French champions.

Head coach Luis Enrique praised his side’s adaptability, noting that while PSG are often recognised for their attacking quality, this match demonstrated their capacity to defend effectively under pressure. He stressed that winning trophies requires balance between offensive and defensive strength, something his team showed in this decisive fixture.

Unlike last season, when PSG secured the title with several matches to spare, this year’s race was significantly tighter, with the champions confirmed only with one game remaining. Enrique described it as one of the most difficult league titles of his tenure, crediting Lens for pushing them throughout the campaign.

He acknowledged that Lens had maintained a strong and consistent run of form, making the title challenge more demanding than in previous seasons. PSG were required to remain focused and resilient across multiple difficult fixtures to stay ahead in the standings.

The French champions now turn their attention to their final league match against Paris FC before preparing for a major European test against Arsenal in the Champions League final later this month.
