FCT FA Super Six: Pride FC Defeat Ejike Ugboaja FC 2–0 as Maracana FC Share Spoils with Youthful Ballers

Posted : 09 July 2025

Abuja, Nigeria – Pride Football Club of Abuja outclassed Ejike Ugboaja FC in their FCT FA Super Six Division One League match on Tuesday with a convincing 2–0 win at the Area 3 Football Pitch in Abuja.

Star forward Alhassan Habib was the hero of the day, scoring both goals for Pride FC. The first came in the 36th minute following a fine assist from Franklin Eze, giving the Abuja-based side a well-deserved lead heading into the break.

In the second half, both sides returned with renewed intensity, tightening their defences and looking to control possession. Pride FC eventually doubled their advantage in the 67th minute when Joseph Olasupo made a brilliant run and connected with Habib, who calmly slotted home his second goal of the match.

Coach Olatunji Yusuf of Pride FC praised his players after the final whistle, describing the game as a tough battle against a formidable opponent.

“The Super Six features very capable teams, and today’s opponent was certainly a strong side. I thank God for the victory; it was a good performance by my boys,” Yusuf said.

“After our 3–1 loss to IB Sporting Dream FC in the opening match on July 3, it was important to bounce back. Our game plan worked well today.”

In another fixture, Maracana FC were held to a 1–1 draw by Youthful Ballers FA in a keenly contested encounter.

The FCT FA Super Six Division One League, which kicked off on July 3, is scheduled to conclude on July 12 in Abuja. The competition features six participating teams: Pride FC, Maracana FC, Youthful Ballers FA, Ejike Ugboaja FC, IB Sporting Dream FC, and Golden Boys FC.

Upcoming fixtures include IB Sporting Dream FC facing Ejike Ugboaja FC at 9:00 a.m., followed by Golden Boys FC against Maracana FC at 11:00 a.m. in their final group matches.

As the tournament nears its conclusion, teams will be pushing for vital wins to secure promotion and top honours in the prestigious local league.
