Tempers are rising and expectations soaring as defending champions Remo Stars travel to Minna to face Niger Tornadoes in what promises to be a fiery Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 15 clash.
Both sides share a growing rivalry and are familiar combatants, with Sunday’s fixture at the Bako Kotangora Stadium expected to produce another competitive and tightly contested showdown.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Remo Stars assistant coach Sulaiman Kamil, popularly known as Coach Lama, promised that his side would “give a better show” despite the Ikon Allah Boys currently holding the advantage on the league table.
Tornadoes sit sixth on the log, while Remo Stars are positioned 11th.
Coach Lama drew confidence from their dominant 2–0 victory over Barau FC of Kano last weekend, insisting that the champions are gradually returning to form and poised to build on last Sunday’s momentum.
“It was a very good performance by the guys. They are now coming up,” he said.
“The performance was excellent, and I praised them for doing very well. Though there’s still room for improvement, I give them kudos.”
The coach admitted that the scoreline could have been bigger, noting that the team missed several clear chances.
He, however, assured fans that they are already working on correcting those errors ahead of their trip to Minna.
“We could have scored more, but there was some lack of composure in front of goal. We got so many chances in the second half but didn’t convert them. We are working hard to fix these issues before facing Niger Tornadoes.”
