Warri Wolves FC appear poised for a tactical U-turn in their technical direction, as the club edges closer to recalling suspended head coach Napoleon Aluma following a poor run of form in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
Aluma, who was sidelined in September after a disappointing home loss to Shooting Stars, may soon resume duties, according to insiders. His suspension by the Delta Sports Commission had initially seemed permanent, but recent results under interim coach Jonny Austin have reignited calls for stability.
Austin’s early tenure, highlighted by an away victory in Kano, briefly inspired optimism. However, recent performances have left the Seasiders exposed, with only one point collected from their last three matches at Oleh. Sources indicate that the club hierarchy is now prioritizing results over internal politics.
The Delta Sports Commission is reportedly open to reinstating Aluma, albeit under strict conditions. The coach is expected to deliver an immediate turnaround or face a decisive exit at the end of the first half of the season, which concludes in four weeks. “If things go wrong again, there will be no second chances,” a club source revealed, noting that the government is pushing to complete upgrades at the Warri Township Stadium in early 2026.
Officials remain hopeful that a late-season surge could propel Warri Wolves toward a continental ticket—a milestone they believe would be fitting to celebrate the reopening of the remodeled stadium. Aluma, highly regarded for guiding the club back to the top flight, is expected to bring experience and stability to a campaign in need of revival.
