Premier League clubs eyeing defensive reinforcements, striking talents in upcoming transfer window

Posted : 11 December 2023

Premier League clubs Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham are reportedly eyeing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, who possesses a £15.5 million release clause, presenting an affordable option for interested parties.

Chelsea is said to lead the race, but competition is fierce, with Manchester United and Tottenham also expressing interest. The 27-year-old German international, valued for his ability to address defensive injuries, may become a sought-after asset in the upcoming transfer window, although the release clause only activates in the summer.

Manchester United has initiated talks with Stuttgart regarding striker Serhou Guirassy, who has impressed with 16 goals in 11 league appearances. With Marcus Rashford's goal-scoring struggles and Rasmus Hojlund yet to score in the Premier League, Manchester United is considering bolstering its attacking options. Negotiations for the 27-year-old striker are reportedly in early stages, and he could be a cost-effective acquisition, potentially costing less than €20 million (£17 million).

Arsenal has received a significant boost in their pursuit of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, as Barcelona has reportedly withdrawn from the race. Initially targeted by Barcelona as "the next Sergio Busquets," Zubimendi is no longer a priority for them, opening the path for Arsenal's interest.

The 24-year-old Spaniard is high on Arsenal's list of priorities for the January transfer window, addressing their need for another defensive midfielder in light of Thomas Partey's injury absence. Barcelona is exploring alternatives like Aurelien Tchouameni, Bruno Guimaraes, Amadou Onana, and Youssouf Fofana.

These potential transfers could shape the dynamics of the upcoming transfer window, with Premier League clubs seeking reinforcements to strengthen their squads.
