Sportscasting Predicts 2025/26 Premier League Table: Liverpool to Miss Out on Title as Man City Reclaim Top Spot

Posted : 30 July 2025

A recent forecast by the analytics platform Sportscasting has sparked debate among Premier League fans, particularly those of Liverpool. The prediction, generated by a supercomputer, suggests that the Merseyside club will not reclaim the title in the upcoming 2025/26 season, despite an aggressive summer transfer window exceeding £290 million in spending. New signings such as Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Karakaz were brought in to bolster Arne Slot’s squad, but the team is still projected to finish third with 85 points.

The report highlights Liverpool’s defense as the team's major vulnerability, especially following the high-profile departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid. While the attack led by Mohamed Salah and reinforced by new recruits remains strong, the defense is expected to falter against top-tier opponents. This defensive fragility, the supercomputer argues, will be Liverpool’s undoing in their title chase.

Manchester City, on the other hand, are forecast to bounce back from a disappointing campaign and reclaim their place at the top of the table. With key players like Erling Haaland in top form, Rodri returning from injury, and Omer Marmoush making a notable impact, City are tipped to finish with 92 points. Arsenal are predicted to run them close, ending the season in second place with 88 points, setting up a tight title race that could go down to the final matchday.

Chelsea, fresh from winning the Club World Cup, are projected to secure fourth place, while Manchester United are the surprise entry into the top five. Despite a relatively quiet transfer window, United are expected to perform well under Erik ten Hag’s leadership. Tottenham, who endured a miserable previous season finishing 17th, are set to climb back to seventh, while Newcastle United are predicted to decline due to underwhelming transfer activity.

At the lower end of the table, Nottingham Forest are expected to suffer a significant drop, sliding from seventh place last season to 17th. The three newly promoted clubs—Burnley, Sunderland, and Leeds United—are all predicted to face immediate relegation. Interestingly, although Arsenal won’t win the league, their manager Mikel Arteta is still forecasted to be named Manager of the Season for his impressive performance.
