Ange Postecoglou has described Tottenham's Europa League semifinal against Bodo/Glimt as an "unbelievable opportunity" to salvage silverware from a difficult season. Despite a demoralizing 5-1 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League, which left Spurs in 16th place, the manager remains optimistic.
He emphasized that reaching the final stages of a European competition is a rare opportunity, regardless of the club’s current struggles, and urged his players to focus solely on the task at hand: winning their first European trophy in 41 years and their first silverware in 17 years.
While acknowledging Tottenham's challenging season, Postecoglou noted the significance of the chance to deliver a meaningful moment for the club’s fans. Despite the disappointing league performance, he urged the team to treat this opportunity with the respect it deserves.
He also rejected any idea that Tottenham’s stature in comparison to Bodo/Glimt would be a deciding factor, insisting that both teams had earned their place in the semifinal and would be treated equally.
James Maddison echoed Postecoglou's sentiments, expressing the team's determination to give something back to the fans who have supported them through a tough campaign.
He acknowledged the pain of a subpar season and said the Europa League represents a chance to make the season special for the supporters. Meanwhile, Postecoglou confirmed that Son Heung-min will miss the first leg due to a foot injury, having been sidelined since April 10.
