2025/2026 NPFL Matchday 16 Preview: Frustrated Plateau United Coach Adegun Welcomes Revived Warri Wolves

Posted : 07 December 2025

Plateau United head coach, Oluwasola Adegun, has admitted his growing frustration with his team’s lack of cutting edge, especially in away fixtures, as they prepare for another crucial test in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Peace Boys, sitting 15th on the table, have endured a difficult campaign on the road, losing all their away matches so far. Their latest setback was a 2–0 defeat to Kun Khalifat FC in a Matchday 15 encounter in Owerri on Sunday — a result that further highlighted their inconsistency.

Returning home to the Jos Township Stadium, Plateau United will be desperate to steady their season when they host newly promoted Warri Wolves in a Matchday 16 showdown. Adegun insists his side must “put in a lot more work” if they hope to turn their season around.

For 7th-placed Warri Wolves, confidence is beginning to return. The Seasiders have recorded one win, two draws, and two losses in their last five outings, showing signs of improvement after a turbulent start.

A major turning point for the Warri side has been the reinstatement of their former Technical Adviser, Napoleon Aluma, who was earlier suspended for poor performance. Aluma justified his return to the dugout immediately, masterminding a spirited 1–0 victory over dethroned league leaders Nasarawa United in Ozoro on Sunday.

Speaking after the match, Aluma praised his players for sticking to the game plan, admitting that the contest against the high-flying Solid Miners was “tough and challenging.”

With both sides seeking crucial momentum, Matchday 16 promises high intrigue. Plateau United will be targeting a return to winning ways in front of their fans, while Warri Wolves aim to build on their renewed confidence and keep climbing the table.
