Plateau United FC finally found their rhythm in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), securing a commanding 2-0 victory over defending champions Remo Stars at the New Jos Stadium. The win ended the team’s three-week wait for a league triumph and signaled a return to form after a shaky start to the season.

 

The turnaround came shortly after a motivational visit from Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who encouraged the players and promised steadfast support for their campaign. The pep talk seemed to inspire the team, as Plateau United looked sharper, hungrier, and more determined from kickoff.

 

The breakthrough came in the 61st minute from defender Tarabina, renowned for his long throw-ins, who powered a header home from Vincent Temitope’s precise cross, sending the Jos faithful into a frenzy. Remo Stars, unbeaten before the trip to Jos, appeared rattled and suffered further setbacks in the 70th minute. Defender Johnson was shown a straight red card for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO), leaving the champions with ten men.

 

Plateau United capitalized on their numerical advantage. Mafeng scored the second goal with composure, pouncing on a loose rebound after the Remo keeper spilled a free-kick, sealing a 2-0 victory and full bragging rights for the Jos side.

 

The win was more than just points on the board; Plateau United outplayed the champions across all areas of the pitch, signaling a serious statement that the team is back in form.
