Plateau United FC continued their strong start to the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season by handing Enyimba International FC a 2–1 defeat in a thrilling Match Day 10 encounter in Jos.
Monday Gideon opened the scoring for Plateau United just five minutes into the second half, but Jonathan Jacob equalized for Enyimba in the 68th minute. Gideon then scored his second goal in the 76th minute, securing all three points for the home side.
The loss intensified pressure on Enyimba, prompting the management of the nine-time NPFL champions to issue a two-game ultimatum to head coach Stanley Eguma and his technical team following a string of poor results.
Sunday’s defeat was Enyimba’s third consecutive league loss, following setbacks against Warri Wolves in Aba and Kun Khalifat FC in Owerri, leaving the Peoples Elephant in ninth place on the table with three wins, four draws, and three losses from ten matches.
The club has instructed Eguma and his staff to secure positive results in the next two fixtures against Kano Pillars in Aba and Abia Warriors in Umuahia to retain their positions.
“Enyimba FC is a club with a proud winning tradition and high expectations of excellence,” the club stated. “While we appreciate the efforts of the technical crew, the current results fall short of our ambitions. The management expects immediate improvement starting with Sunday’s home game against Kano Pillars.”
The club also assured fans and stakeholders that necessary measures are being taken to ensure a swift turnaround as the season progresses.
