2025/2026 NPFL Match Day 28 Preview: Plateau United Aim to Halt Barau FC’s Home Surge in Kano

An intriguing battle awaits in Kano this weekend as Barau FC host Plateau United FC in a pivotal Match Day 28 clash of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Both sides head into the fixture in fine form, but it is Plateau United who arrive with growing momentum under experienced tactician Gbenga Ogunbote.

Since taking charge, the former Shooting Stars SC boss has overseen a remarkable turnaround, losing just twice and guiding the Peace Boys to four wins in their last five matches.

The Jos-based side now sits 10th on the table and is pushing for a strong finish.

Barau FC, however, have also rediscovered their spark. The Maliya Boys have climbed to 13th position with 34 points from 27 matches following the arrival of coach Eugene Agagbe, who steadied the ship after a turbulent spell near the relegation zone.

Their seven-game unbeaten run recently ended with a narrow defeat to defending champions Rivers United FC, but confidence remains high within the Kano camp.

Head coach Rabiu Tata has made it clear that maximum points at home remain the priority as Barau aim to consolidate their mid-table status and climb further up the standings.

With both teams rejuvenated and eager to sustain their upward trajectory, Sunday’s encounter promises intensity, discipline, and a contest defined by fine margins.
