After the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, Peterborough United has officially announced its list of retained and released players, which includes decisions regarding six Nigerian players.
David Ajiboye, who had several loan spells during his time at Peterborough, has been confirmed as leaving the club. Ajiboye spent time at Sutton United, York City, and Newport County on loan, but he will not continue with the Posh for the upcoming season.
In his time at Peterborough United, Ajiboye made 73 appearances, scoring 4 goals and contributing 5 assists. Despite his efforts, the club has opted not to retain him. Additionally, Justin Osagie, a former youth player with West Ham United and Celtic, is also being released without having made a senior appearance for the club.
Ajiboye's football journey includes stints with Millwall and Sutton United, having come through the ranks at the Brighton Academy before his time at Peterborough. His departure marks the end of a somewhat unfulfilled chapter with the club.
On a positive note, Peterborough United has confirmed that Rio Adebisi, Abraham Odoh, and Pemi Aderoju will stay with the club for the 2025-2026 season. Adebisi's 2024-2025 season was marred by injury, limiting him to just one appearance in League One. However, the club has chosen to retain him for the future.
Abraham Odoh had an impressive campaign, contributing significantly with 11 goals and 10 assists across 50 games. Aderoju, meanwhile, had a season spent on loan at non-league sides Boston United and Farnborough FC but has now been kept for the upcoming season.
Bradley Ihionvien, aged 21, has been made available for transfer. Peterborough United is open to either selling or loaning him out this summer, and the player is expected to seek new opportunities in the coming months.
