Paris Defeat Aston Villa to Retain UEFA Super Cup

Paris secured back-to-back UEFA Super Cup triumphs after defeating Europa League holders Aston Villa 2-1 in Salzburg on Wednesday, joining an exclusive group of clubs to achieve the feat.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring after 20 minutes, continuing his reputation as one of Paris' key players. The Georgian received a pass from Désiré Doué, cut inside and unleashed a powerful strike that gave goalkeeper Marco Bizot no chance.

Villa responded through teenage forward Brian Madjo, who made history on his Super Cup debut. The 17-year-old, aged 17 years and 212 days, became the youngest player ever to start the competition. After twice heading wide and striking the post, Madjo eventually found the net just before half-time, converting John McGinn's cross with a volley to become the youngest scorer in Super Cup history.

Paris restored their advantage in the 61st minute. Substitute Ousmane Dembélé produced a perfectly weighted through ball for Doué, who calmly finished beyond Bizot to put the French side back in front.

Villa were unable to find another equaliser as Paris held on to claim another major European trophy and become just the third side to win the UEFA Super Cup in consecutive years.
