PAMOJA 2027 Race: Chelle Demands Full Focus as Eagles Face Confident Wild Dogs

Posted : 29 September 2026

Super Eagles Head Coach Éric Chelle has challenged his players to maintain maximum concentration when Nigeria take on Guinea-Bissau in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in Bissau on Tuesday.

Chelle expects a difficult encounter against the Djurtus, who boosted their confidence with an away victory over Tanzania on Friday.

The Franco-Malian said Nigeria had studied the West Africans closely and would approach the Day 2 fixture with the respect it deserves.

“We respect them because they are a strong team; I have followed their progress over the years. They also won away in Tanzania on Friday and will be confident playing on home ground tomorrow,” Chelle said at Monday’s pre-match press conference.

The coach, however, made it clear that the Super Eagles’ objective remains securing all three points.

“Our objective is to take the three points, and to do that, we must approach the game with a strong mentality. We have to be at our best to earn victory,” he added.

Chelle also played down concerns over the condition of the pitch at the 24 September Stadium, insisting that his players must adapt quickly to the playing surface.

The Super Eagles subsequently held their official training at the venue on Monday evening, with all 24 invited players taking part in the 65-minute session under light rain.

Nigeria will rely on a blend of established stars and emerging talents as they seek a positive result on the road.
