Owerri will host its first-ever Futsal Championship from June 18–22, 2025, featuring four top teams in a round-robin contest leading to a grand final.
The city of Owerri is gearing up for the inaugural Owerri Futsal Championship, set to hold from June 18 to 22, 2025, at the Grasshoppers International Stadium (Dan Anyiam), Wethral Road, Owerri, Imo State.
Four competitive sides—Malick Pro FC, Kun Khalifat FC, Campos FC, and Pakat FC—will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the grand final on June 22.
The event is spearheaded by Ndubuisi Ukah Odigomma, a FIFA-badged Nigerian referee, who recently represented Nigeria at the CAF Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco earlier this year.
Ndubuisi, who also serves as a certified Nigeria International Futsal Referee, revealed that each team is allowed to register 14 players and five officials, with jersey numbers from 1 to 15. He emphasized that the FIFA Futsal Laws of the Game will be strictly enforced throughout the tournament.
